Diana Bauer analyzes energy policy with a focus on energy security at the U.S. Department of Energy. She leads the team that drafted DOE’s December 2010 Critical Materials Strategy. Other topics in her portfolio include the energy-water nexus, transportation and energy efficiency. She previously led the extramural sustainability research program at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, focusing on topics such as green materials, green manufacturing, green building, transportation, and land use planning. She is one of the principal authors of U.S. EPA’s research strategy for sustainability. She also led the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Forecasting at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Dr. Bauer has Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from U.C. Berkeley and a BSE in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University. She has previous careers of robot designer in Waltham, MA, and English teacher in Hanzhong, China.
