Clean energy finance: Is clean energy the next bubble? This workshop will explore the risk of a bubble that may be created by investments in clean energy technology. In recent years, rising concerns about climate change and the need for alternative sources of energy have fostered investments in clean energy technologies. The current administration has so far supported this trend providing tax breaks and other incentives. However, the underlying technologies behind clean energy investments have not improved enough to compete with traditional sources of energy. More importantly, most of these technologies are still not scalable. The workshop will address the following questions: What are the current investment models for clean energy technologies? How do investors measure risk? How do investors evaluate future technological improvements in clean energy technologies? How do investors determine scalability of these investments? How will current government regulations impact clean energy investments? What should be changed about the current policy landscape to mitigate the risk of a bubble? |
