Social and Consumer Benefits of Electric Vehicles

A wide range of companies, both established and startup, are pursuing electric vehicles, batteries, and related technologies. Environmental motives often feature prominently in discussions of vehicle electrification, and the technology may indeed offer some environmental benefits if adopted on a large scale. However, the technology also has the potential to deliver several distinct value propositions to consumers, including superior performance characteristics, low and stable operating costs, and quiet operation, among others.

This workshop will take a broad look at the benefits of electric vehicles relative to their conventional counterparts, assessing how they compare on a variety of metrics from both a societal and a consumer perspective. Speakers will offer insights into the unique value propositions that companies are presenting to consumers, and the potential for electric vehicles to deliver on promised societal benefits.
